Personal Information for Newsletter and Blog Post Clients

Anyone can sign up on my website to opt in for newsletters and/or blog posts. The information includes your name and email address.

Newsletter and Blog Post signups are both held with MailChimp, a US-based company that complies with the EU-US Privacy Shield framework and whose Privacy Policy states that they will never share or sell subscribers’ information.

I use MailChimp to send out newsletters with useful information and links to my blog posts plus blog posts. I will never share or sell the client information linked to this. Clients can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the foot of every newsletter and blog post.

Personal Information from the Contact Form

If you complete the Contact Form I will use the information supplied to get back in touch with you. We will then agree whether you wish to be kept in touch following on from this.

Who the information may be shared with

I never share or sell the personal information you share with me. I am required to comply with all aspects of the Data Protection Act (DPA) and my Health Professional Liability and Malpractice Insurance Policy with Balens. As a Mindfulness & Meditation Coach I am providing you with teaching and guidance. Therefore records I keep are teaching points and not necessary to be kept when we’ve finished working together.

Clients may sometimes give me a written Testimonial. It’s great when this happens and you are in control of how much detail you wish to be included. Testimonials are shared online and you can ask for them to be removed any time.

Commenting on Blog Posts

My website allows you to post information with a view to that information being read, copied, downloaded, or used by other people.

Examples include:

  • posting a message
  • clicking on an icon next to another visitor’s message to convey your agreement, disagreement or thanks

In posting personal information, it is up to you to satisfy yourself about the privacy level of every person who might use it.

Once your information enters the public domain, I have no control over what any individual third party may do with it. I accept no responsibility for their actions at any time.

Provided your request is reasonable and there is no legal basis for me to retain it, then at my discretion I may agree to your request to delete personal information that you have posted. You can make a request by contacting me at Yvette at Place of Serenity.

Complaints Regarding Content on My Website

If you complain about any of the content on my website, I shall investigate your complaint.

If I feel it is justified or if I believe the law requires me to do so, I shall remove the content while I investigate.

Free speech is a fundamental right, so I have to make a judgment as to whose right will be obstructed: yours, or that of the person who posted the content that offends you.

If I think your complaint is vexatious or without any basis, I shall not correspond with you about it.

Use of information collected through automated systems when you visit my website

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser when you visit any website. They allow information gathered on one web page to be stored until it is needed for use on another, allowing a website to provide you with a personalised experience and the website owner with statistics about how you use the website so that it can be improved.

Some cookies may last for a defined period of time, such as one day or until you close your browser. Others last indefinitely.

Your web browser should allow you to delete any you choose. It also should allow you to prevent or limit their use.

My website uses cookies. They are placed by software that operates on the servers, and by software operated by third parties whose services I use.

If you choose not to use cookies or you prevent their use through your browser settings, you may not be able to use all the functionality of this website.

Personal Identifiers from your Browsing Activity

This is technical stuff that happens on my website. I use very little of this but your information will be coming through anyway. Some of it will include:

Requests by your web browser to my servers for web pages and other content. This may reveal your geographical location, your Internet service provider and your IP address. It is possible I could use this information in aggregate to assess the popularity of the webpages on my website and how I perform in providing content to you.

If combined with other information about you from previous visits, the data possibly could be used to identify you personally, even if you are not signed in to my website.

Compliance with the law

My privacy policy has been compiled so as to comply with the law of every country or legal jurisdiction in which I aim to do business.

However, ultimately it is your choice as to whether you wish to use my website.

Thanks for reading through.
