Every Word is an Incantation

Place of Serenity | Every word is an Incantation

An Incantation is described as a

Ritual recitation of verbal charms or spells to produce a magic effect.

From The Free Dictionary by Farlex

Your words, both spoken and thought, are immensely powerful. When there is intention behind them, they are like the charms and spells which we associate with magic. You yourself are the Goddess or Wizard who can create your world with the language you use.

This indeed is magical.

Nothing else is required for your incantation except your attention, focus and awareness from a deep place within your heart.

Notice the thoughts that swirl around in your head. Do they bring you or others down? Can you shift your thoughts away from those memories of difficult experiences, and focus on the current moment that is before you?

The Alchemy of Awareness

Instead of thinking and speaking on auto-pilot, bring the alchemy of awareness to the present. This is when you become empowered. No longer hooked into recounting the past that keeps you stagnant and stuck. No longer swept along by strong emotions that take you out of alignment with your centre.

This approach isn’t reserved for pagan rituals, celtic stories, witchcraft and other ethereal beings only. You yourself have the capacity to make every word and thought an incantation with which to create your world.

Even the simplicity of focusing your mind on your breath, leads your body to a state of relaxation and steadiness. Essential when you feel anxiety or anger.

Have you noticed how all those negative habits keep repeating themselves, often unconsciously? They show up again and again. In your physical daily habits and in your everyday thoughts. All taking place in your head.

So bring your mindful awareness to your heart and transform your words and thinking, from there. The simple, yet profound skill of loving presence, opens up the possibility of a vast new horizon before you.

Create Your Own Incantation

Place of Serenity

Acknowledge that you have the power to make changes in your life through the power of incantations. Create your own sentences and nurture the optimism and wellbeing that arises when you think upon them daily. Here are some simple ideas:

If you are making decisions, perhaps you could recite:
‘I am ready to receive inspiration’
Or ‘I trust myself’

If you feel anxiety:
‘I am peaceful and at ease’

If surrounded by turmoil:
‘I create a space of harmony and love around me’
Or ‘I walk with peace and serenity in my heart’

If you are feeling self-critical:
‘I am enough’

Be creative! Breathe deeply into your abdomen so that you are grounded and present. Recite your phrases often. Feel them arise with joy and anticipation.

You are magically creating your own unique life!

Remember, incantations are expressed with emotional energy, intensity, and conviction,.. It’s best to do your incantations while standing, or even better while jogging or working out; and say them out loud.  Doing so will help ensure that the meanings and the intentions of the words you’re uttering become locked into the nervous system and sink deeply into the subconscious mind, bringing about lasting and powerful life-changes.

The Season for Incantations

You can watch your words and thoughts all year round, any time of day or night. But as we are in the season of Samhain you may enjoy reading more about the mystery and history of this time of year:

‘Samhain (Halloween) is a pagan religious festival originating from an ancient Celtic spiritual tradition. In modern times, Samhain (a Gaelic word pronounced “SAH-win”) is usually celebrated from 31 October to 1 November to welcome in the harvest and usher in “the dark half of the year.” Celebrants believe that the barriers between the physical world and the spirit world break down during Samhain, allowing more interaction between humans and denizens of the Otherworld.’

‘Every word is an incantation’ – I was inspired by this phrase which came from the work of Ciara Young ‘The Blazing Heart Foundation’
