Here is my love letter for Valentine’s Day. What would you write in a love letter to someone, or something, that inspires you?
Mine is a simple love letter to Mother Earth:
You are filled with rivers and waterfalls, oceans and coastlines, mountains and gorgeous lush woodlands. I am closer to you with the nostalgic smell of the earth after rain, the clap of thunder, the deep softness of moss beneath my hands.
And I love the exquisite diversity of the living creatures that make their home here.
The uplifting song of the blackbird, the sound of bees on a sunny day, the daily gift of sky colours at sunset. These may be simple pleasures yet they’re miraculous.
And I know that across the immense earth live animals with self-assurance and wisdom – elephants, tigers, whales, horses and eagles.
And each time some natural event reminds us of the power of the earth, we still don’t seem to get it. Floods, hurricanes, forest fires, devasting droughts.
When, if ever, will we learn to love, respect and honour you, Mother Earth?
Just as we need to love, respect and honour ourselves and each-other.
I look up into the changing sky, and although I have no-one standing by my side, you’re here Mother Earth.
Ending this short love letter now.
Signing out, with love.
