Hidden |

I spent some time yesterday with my beautiful 18 month old nephew. I had wanted to bring along for him a treasured wooden train set which my children had enjoyed when they were young but I couldn't find it. I knew it was in the house somewhere, but it was hidden. I'd gone twice into the loft looking for it, but no luck. I was visualizing a wooden crate filled with the train pieces, as it had always been. Then today, (I don't usually spend so much time up in my loft!) but I was up there again, looking for something else, when I found the train set. It was in a plastic bag next to all the Christmas decorations - I'd been looking for the wooden crate and my expectations were for that. Here it was in a disguise. I think we do this more than we realise - have expectations, look for only those, and miss the hidden treasure. I finally saw 'Gran Torino' the other day with Clint Eastwood - similar thing with prejudices.
And today (the reason I was in the loft again) I was polishing up the Place of Serenity Annexe which will be used for an Angel Meditation evening on Monday. Space-clearing and cleaning a room, and creating something that feels welcoming and safe, is like that hidden treasure again. Beneath a cold, dirty and unloved place, there is potential for it to glow.
Anyway, as James Morrison sings, 'I'm not lost, just undiscovered'.
Your glow is there, it might just be hidden!
