Blogging my way to Heaven

Afternoon tea with a wise woman

I thought I might pick up from last year and pay more attention to expressing myself here on the blog site. I had afternoon tea on Saturday in Richmond, in a wonderful tea shop called 'The Tea Box'. It had been a very emotional week - perhaps I will share more about that another time. Anyway, I met up with a very good friend whom I hadn't seen for a couple of years and as I shared where I was, Marion, was my wise woman! She said all the things I needed to hear - like, 'don't be so hard on yourself', 'allow things to tick over with work while you deal with the emotions of what you are going through' and other words which felt like soothing balm. Sometimes we do need to be reminded of that - being a human is hard work and we constantly need reminding that we are being held and supported, if only we allow it.

I then spent Sunday down Memory Lane with my son Josh, who suggested we visit the Natural History Museum in London. He specifically wanted to visit the Dinosaur Exhibition which he fondly remembered when he was tiny and totally into dinosaurs. As a young child he was so excited by these immense creatures, the stories behind them and the theories of why they became extinct. We can lose that excitement and inspiration so easily - it's good to be reminded of it sometimes. Sharing our passions is important too - as a primary school teacher in Kensington, I had many opportunities to take the children out to all the local museums such as this one. I loved doing a reccy first and devising how to make the day interesting and relevant to what they were learning. Sharing is good. Maybe that's what blogs are about.
